Who can participate?
ARCH CHALLENGE is open to architects, designers, urbanists, studios, students, multidisciplinary teams, digital artists and AI-assisted teams from around the world.
Can students participate?
Yes. Students are welcome to participate either individually or as part of a team.
Can teams participate?
Yes. Individual participants and teams are both eligible.
Can AI tools be used?
Yes. AI tools are allowed and encouraged as part of the creative process. Participants remain fully responsible for originality, coherence, feasibility and integrity.
What is the official language?
The official language of the competition is English.
Are the sites real?
Yes. All competition sites are real locations in Cape Verde.
Will winning projects be built?
Not automatically. The competition is an ideas platform connected to real sites. Selected concepts may be evaluated for future development opportunities.
Who owns the intellectual property?
Intellectual property remains with the authors. By entering, participants grant the organiser the right to publish and exhibit submitted materials in connection with the competition.
What are the submission requirements?
Each official brief defines the full requirements. In general, entries include boards, concept text, renders and supporting material.
How does the Public Choice Award work?
A selection of eligible projects may be presented online for public voting. The Public Choice Award is separate from the jury awards.
Are underground parking solutions allowed?
No. Underground parking is not allowed due to geological, economic and environmental considerations.
How are projects evaluated?
Projects are evaluated on architectural quality, relationship to site, climate responsiveness, realism, spatial intelligence, parking integration, originality, cultural relevance and overall vision.
